Fitness Fest 2017 – Parkour Workshops!

Superfly was very happy to be invited to the very first Fitness Fest to share the love of Movement! We designed a special Parkour Playspace using our scaffolds and boxes creating an amazing space for everyone to discover possibility through movement at our workshops. It was awesome to see all our workshops packed with people of all ages and was particularly encouraging to see so many females keen to try Parkour!

Rojak! Weekend Festival

Superfly were invited to Kickstart 2017 with a Parkour Freerunning Performance around these steps of the Asian Civilisations Museum for their Rojak Weekend Festival. Was great to work with ACM and the Heritage Board fusing bringing the parkour flavour to the old school coolies.

Urban Ventures – Street Festival

Superfly were very excited to be a part of Urban Ventures by Lope Lab – a new homegrown street festival bringing arts, culture and passion to the community. For this one day festival, Superfly set up a mini Parkour playground with a simple scaffold structure and specially selected boxes to provide a backdrop not only for an enthralling parkour free running performance, but also a space for the public to discover movement and play with us at our Free parkour workshops.

Singapore River Festival – La Fura del Baus

Superfly Monkey Dragons had the awesome opportunity of working with the world renowned Spanish Theatre company La Fura dels Baus for the inaugural Singapore River Festival as part of SG50! It was a great chance to work with other movement professionals as well as try our hand at something a little different – the human wheel suspended above the river in Clarke Quay. Was an amazing week of training, rehearsing and performing combing the unique elements of La Fura Dels Baus with Parkour and other movement disciplines! What an exhilarating experience for Superfly and all who were there to witness the spectacle!

Soulscape Yoga Festival

In 2015 we had the opportunity of spreading the parkour love with our yoga friends at the biggest yoga festival in Singapore: Soulscape! What a great way to spend the day on the beach, and kicking off the evening program with a parkour performance! Thanks again to the Soulscape Organisers – In the Loop for having us!!! Superfly Brick Mansions Parkour Jam

On 19 April 2014, Superfly Monkey Dragons hit the streets of Orchard Road to set up the first-ever community jam in the middle of the city. We teamed up with Brick Mansions (B-13 Hollywood remake starring David Belle) film distributor Cathay-Keris, and set up a whole day of parkour activity, workshops and showcases for everyone!

Radio station HOT 91.3FM swung by to check it out, and we also had calisthenics people from Team Strong Silvers as well as streetdancers from Natasha Studio coming by to perform and have a good time. It was a day to remember, with many traceurs from overseas coming to hang with the local community and many members of the public signing up to get a taste of the discipline that we love.

All things culminated in a dance afterparty at the end of the night, with hip-hop, west coast swing, breakdancers and freerunners tearing up the floor in front of The Grand Cathay Cinema.

Such a massive day. Parkour is for everybody, and we love seeing and making it happen. Here’s to more great things in 2014!

Hong Kong Freespace Fest

The Superfly Team was invited to be part of the Hong Kong Freespace Fest – a new multi cultural and multi artistic festival that showcases arts in all its forms. Kowloon’s Riverside was flooded with magic and art for a weekend, and despite being rainy, brought a lot of interested minds into the space.

PROGRAM

It was great to meet up with the local Hong Kong Parkour community as well as seeing our good friend and Parkour legend, Daniel Ilabaca, who along with Martin and Farid from the UK and conducted a series of Masterclasses for the more skilled traceurs!

A performance piece was prepared with our Parkour friends from Hong Kong, however the weather surprised us with a weekend full of rain, so we had no other choice but to adapt and improvise, and were happy we were at least able to put on a show that dazzled the audience as well as couple of beginner workshops for the curious and adventurous!:)

Superfly Showdown Parkour Challenge

The Singapore Parkour community came together for a fun weekend of jammin’, workshops and a friendly parkour challenge / competition. Check the video out, showcasing a weekend full of jumps, flips, workshops, performances, and Singapore’s first Parkour Challenge!

A showdown of skills and friendship, where participants were faced with 5 challenges:

Muscle-up
Speed
Longest Precision
Team Work
1 Minute Freestyle

We were dazzled to witness so many good athletes just jamming like crazy, and congratulated Coach Ian as he won the Freestyle Challenge and Overall Winner!
