Seametrey Children’s Village

For 2016, Superfly looked to direct its outreach to a Seametrey Chidrens Village – a wonderful school in Cambodia lead by Muoy to provide a dream education to those left behind by the mainstream system. Through working with Givingweek.sg in Singapore, Superfly raised money by holding a series of workshops with all proceeds going to the school. Supefly donated over $1000 Singapore dollars, with just under $200 coming from the workshops.

Inspire Tour Europe 2015

Kicking off in London, the Inspire group travelled across Europe from Denmark, to Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Italy stopping at various points along the way to connect with the various parkour and movement communities including hitting Francavilla for the Freesports Festival! Inspire Egypt 2015

Inspire Inside Out Philippines 2015

Led by Natalia Ivanova from street eXpression the Inspire Inside Out Initiative toured the Philippines bringing community and the joy of movement to the parkour and open community alike, with special workshops including for some of the street kids in Manila.

Inspire Tour Japan 2015

In Jan 2015, Derrick joined Inspire tour Japan lead by Daniel ilabaca and his family – its aim to spread the love of movement and community with parkour communities around the beautiful country of Japan. Check this video by one the participants – Michael Hartwig to learn more about the wonderful work the Inspire team do throughout the world. Michael now also organises the Inspire tours in the USA.

Earth Hour 2014

Chinese New Year Neighbourhood Outreach

Superfly Monkey Dragons teamed up with Natasha Studio on 24-25 January to reach out to families-in-need staying at King George Road, just before the Chinese New Year festivities.

The mission: pack over 1000 1-kilo bags of rice, canned food, biscuits and noodles to distribute to over 650 one-room apartment units. Manually transport supplies to residential area. Distribute bags, offer aid if needed, deploy warm smiles, take residential surveys. We are glad to announce that the mission was a success!

Thank you to all traceurs and members of our community who came down to help out our streetdance neighbours in this project. We are all one family – we start together and finish together. Let’s keep being strong to be useful!

Leave No Trace Campaign

Parkour practitioners are sometimes seen as troublemakers damaging property. However those that cultivate and stay true to its roots know that parkour is at its core altrusic – that its purpose is to serve and not destroy. This is exemplified by one of its founding values:

“Etre fort pour être utile”

“to be strong, to be useful”

The Leave No Trace Initiative aims to lead by example. We want to show the community that we respect the environment, that we want to train in harmony with the community. We look after our spaces and we hope everyone else does the same. We hope this initiative reinforces this philosophy and strengthens our commitment as parkour practitioners (traceurs) and just as importantly as members of the community who look after and respect the places which we share and play.

Playground Build Gawad Kalinga Manila – TCRP

Superfly Monkey Dragons Community Outreach Program kicks off with participating on The Chain Reaction Project‘s Manila Bike and Build. Derrick joined 20 plus other participants to travel to Manila and help Gawad Kalinga build a playground for one of the communities there. It was a great chance to see first hand the conditions and situations many displaced families live in, and also an eye opener on what more we can do to help communities like this.

Superfly hopes to be able to support and help more communities in need in the future.
